Pony Boy & Clark Gable

When I'm  not drinking coffee, or making cupcakes.  (Yes, I do make occasional trips home so I can make cupcakes...What can I say? I'm obsessed.)

I fill my time with painting.  Lots, and lots of painting.

It's a good thing I enjoy having paint on my knees, fingers, face, etc. because I tend to get a little messy when I paint.

Which is why my mother usually bans me from the house when I paint.  She sends me out into exile in our barn, where I am forced to talk/sing to myself to stay entertained.  I've come to find out that I'm great company.

This weekend, Mama found some compassion for me since it was -32 degrees outside (exaggeration? Yes. Unreasonable? No.) and let me paint inside the house. (I know! I was shocked myself.) But not without making sure I covered our kitchen table with trash bags.  Which was a brilliant idea.

I was painting a curtain for a friend of ours, and took the liberty of taking a picture of the progression.

In order to get a "worthy" picture I had to stand up on the table since I'm 4 foot nothin' and banged my head on our light quite a few times, but don't worry, the doctor said I would be fine in a few weeks...

Step 1: Paint everything in white, and then start filling the colors in...

Step 2: Detail, Detail, DETAIL!

Step 3: Add cowboy.  After all, Cowboys make everything better.

I named the horse "Pony Boy." I'm not sure why, it just seemed fitting.

I named the cowboy "Clark Gable." Once again, I'm not sure why.  Maybe it's because he is tall, dark, and handsome, and contains everything a girl could ever want in her man? Maybe I'm weird and should take a nap now?

Yes.  I agree.

Peace, Love, & Maybe our light did more damage than the doctors thought?

Ode to Blogging

Ashamed.

Embarrassed.

Disgruntled.

Annoyed.

Confused.

You might think these are words describing Kim Kardashian and her recent decision but, I assure you they are not...(Sorry, I usually try not to make pop culture references because "movies are just trash with naked people in 'em" but I couldn't help myself...)

These are actually words I am using to describe me, myself, and I's lack of blogging.

There is no excuse for my absence...well actually I have a very valid excuse: I'm in college...and college takes up alot my extra time.  This is not a fact I was aware of when I enrolled.  Why didn't someone warn me??

It's ok.  I guess I forgive you, but I'm open to bribes if you really want to get on my good side again...

Anyways, In between classes I ususally...

a) sleep

b) do homework

c) do homework

d) avoid homework

or e) for eat.  (This is my personal favorite.)

So as you can see all of this "necessary" stuff leaves little room for blogging, which is most definatley the greatest shame I know, because without blogging I am not me...

In order to ask for Bloggings forgiveness I took the time to write a little "ode" to it, and pray that it hears my plea.

Please sit back, grab yourself a cup of joe and a scone, and enjoy this "masterpiece."

Sweet T's Ode to Blogging
First Addition
*Insert other stuff real authors would usually put here*

Oh Blogging, dear blogging
You are much easier than logging.

You don't come even close to resembling timber,
yet I fall for you still, and this hurts because we all know I'm not limber.

You are handsome and strong and will never do me wrong.
But some people will cry if I write in you too long.

You let me talk about cupcakes, and cowboys,
and you listen to me complain, and rejoice.

You are my true love. You are my best friend.
And now I will say "The End."

The End.

I told you it was a masterpiece!

But now, in all seriousness, I do apologize for not blogging in at least a month. It is very shameful, especially considering that I am majoring in Ag Communications so I can someday be a journalist, which will require me writing on a regular basis.

Please pray for my future employer,

Peace, Love, & It feels good to finally sign out saying "Peace & Love" again!

A Dream Come True

I'm a simple girl.

I love God, my family, food, and the western lifestyle.

My dreams in life consist of me having a job that I love going to everyday, a family that is adorable (and they will be,) and a little house with red shutters, and a bright turquoise door...and maybe a few chickens? I haven't decided yet...

I have another dream too.  It's a little different than most peoples dreams.  It's very...um...what's the word I'm looking for? Ok, I'll just admit it. It's a weird dream, but a dream of mine nonetheless, and I achieved this dream the other night with the help of two very good friends.

This dream involves friends, fellowship, and waffles.

Yes, I'm afraid you heard me right.  I did just say my dream involves waffles...and not just any waffles but, Chocolate Chip waffles from none other than the one, and only, and magnificently tacky: Waffle House!

I developed this very weird, yet fitting dream last Christmas when me and my family went and ate there late one night.  I'm not sure why we did? But that doesn't matter. What does matter is that it was one of the best meals in my entire life! (Sorry Mama!) And it wasn't because of the food (even though I am partial to the Waffle House menu) it was because of who I was with, and the time we shared talking, and laughing at our tattooed waiter.

It was perfect.

So ever since then I've had this dream of eating at Waffle House at midnight, because apparently the waffles get even better then?

And you know what? That is the whole-hearted truth.

Check it out.

This waffle was one of the best I've ever had.

So I drenched it in syrup, and ate every bit of it.

It was tasty. It was fun. And it is something I will never forget. Amen.

Peace, Love, & My next dream is to wear the biggest, over-the-top hat I can at the Kentucky Derby.  This may take a little more time, and money to accomplish....

Mountains

Where ever you go to the mountains whether it be Virginia, Tennessee, Colorado, New Mexico, Brooklyn...(are there mountains in Brooklyn? Yea, I don't know either...) you always find peace.

You get to get away from the outside world for awhile, and just be filled with all things nature. Trees, sky, streams, bears, pine cones...

Your away from all the noisy, and at times bothersome ways of technology, and you can just be.

It's a time I always, always, ALWAYS look forward too, and this weekend is no different.

Yes, I am going to the mountains this weekend with my Church group. (I'd like to at this time make a shout out to all my Buffs for Christ peeps right now...What it do my friends?!)

Yes, I am going to enjoy time away from all things technology because we have an "iffy" relationship anyways...

And yes, I will tell you of my adventures when I return....

Until then my friends, I hope all your days are filled happiness, and thoughts of me in the mountains.

Peace, Love, & You should all go to the mountains too so we can fill the aftermath of hiking together...

What I've Been a Eatin'

I think about food 24/7. (Sadly, this is the whole-hearted truth.)

I'm convinced that there is someone out there who sinks to this level too...(Anyone???)

So, I've made it my mission today to enlighten you on what I've been sinking my teeth into lately...and that's not just a figure of speech.

You can't really sink your teeth into coffee....but believe me, If I could I would. Understood?  And this coffee right here happens to be the most delightful I have ever had....EVER!

Since I'm kind of a sucker for anything made up of flour and sugar, I usually get one of these babies to go with my Breve...

(P.S. Breve is a kind of coffee, and happens to be what is pictured above.  You probably already knew that, but us country folk are a little slower to catch onto things...)

Scone meet readers.  Readers meet my baby, Scone.

This isn't the full scone, I got so eager when the Barista handed it to me that I dug in immediately, and forgot the #1 rule for all food bloggers: Click before you have bit.

(That's really not the #1 rule, I just made it up...I'm weird like that.)

Now speaking of flour and sugar...This little dandy was the best cake thing I have evvaaa eaten before!

It was moist, chocolaty, and had a gooey middle layer: My three favorite things in life.

Now let's talk about "real" food...

The cafeteria here at college really isn't bad 'atall...in fact I like it alot.

I like it alot, alot.

This meal was the first meal with sides I've had in a while.  Now my soul is at peace again.

Chicken!

Shh! Don't tell my Dad.

(P.S. My Dad believes in the consumption of beef, and only beef. Amen.)

And lastly...

B-A-N-A-N-A-S!

No day would be complete without them.

Peace, Love, & I believe in the consumption of food, and lots of food, Amen.

Son of a Duck

I don't normally take pictures of just anything...

And when I do take pictures it's usually of a rodeo, or (even more regularly) of cupcakes...(Forgive me, I know not what I do!)

So these next pictures were a very new experience for me, and no I have not lost my mind...well maybe slightly...I blame college.

I told you they were different...but before you go and accuse me of becoming a duck lover (they are kinda cute though, don't ya think?) let me 'splain myself...

You see, I am taking a media desgin class where more often then not we have an assignment due that involves pictures. Lots, and lots of pictures. This particular assignment requires 5 different pictures:

  • Establishing Shot
  • Still Life
  • Detail Shot
  • Portrait
  • Action Shot
Easy enough right? Sure.

But then my professor threw in this curve ball: They must all tell a story.

Usually I'm a very imaginiative person, but when you live in a dorm, and are on a time crunch to get this done, your imagination kind of goes out the window, and convenience comes into play, which is exactly why I chose to force my roommate to go feed ducks with me at the local park.  She finally agreed (No I didn't threaten her. Why? Have you talked to someone??) and we ventured off to the duck world.

And her is my Duck story told in pictures.

Enjoy.

One time, there was a beautiful maiden named (We will go with "Ducky" for now, because honestly names aren't a major concern right now...) Ducky had a love for ducks.  A love that was so strong, she had vowed very early in life to feed the lovely creatures everyday for the rest of her time on this earth.  So thats exactly what she did....

(She fed them Kashi.  Her favorite cereal, because it's full of 7 whole grains.)

The water was always quiet right when Ducky got there. Everything was still, and peaceful...

But then sudenly, Ducky would spring everything forth from its slumbering state by tossing the cereal to the cold, quiet waters, making everything come alive.

The ducks really did love Ducky (go figure.) but as they say, "All good things must come to an end." so in the bright of the noon day sun, the ducks would venture away from Ducky out into the wild, blue yonder called Southeast Park.

This devestated Ducky.

But Hark!

What's this?

A token of gratitude left for the fair maiden, named, Ducky, who loved to feed the beautiful ducks.

The End.

Please contain your tears, "I have a strict policy that no one cries alone in my prescene!"  (Someone name that movie please!)

Anyways, that's my story, these are my pictures, the ducks are now my peeps, and if I don't have a roommate come the end of the week we will all wonder why....

Peace, Love, & Oh by the way, ducks don't exactly appreciate the 7 whole, wonderful grains of Kashi.

I Yearn for Kentucky

It's true.

Every night I lay in my bed, and dream of the lush, beautiful pastures of My Old Kentucky Home.

It's a place where all is right in the world.

Where little children can eat ice cream for supper.

Where parents never have to worry about what the children are having for supper.

Where horses and cattle are always standing in grass up to their belly's.

Where college students are always homework free.

It's paradise!

OK, maybe I'm exaggerating a little (just a tad wee little bit) but my family and I drove through Kentucky this summer, and it changed our lives forever.

OK, maybe I'm exaggerating again, but it is one of the most beautiful places I have evvvaaa seen before! I felt like a modern day Scarlett O'Hara just driving through it...I did, it's true.

Be still oh my soul!

We drove through the Kentucky Horse Park, and for a family whose lives involve lots of "Horse time" it was PARADISE with a capitol "I" for I want to live in this barn....

Do you think they'd let me?

I'd clean it all the time! (OK most of the time...)

I bet they would hardly even know I was there!

I'd even let my horses graze in this pasture...who am I kidding? That grass is so green, I'd probably graze in this pasture too.

Peace, Love, & The grass really is greener on the other side...at least in Kentucky it is.
